Wake Up, Love!

The show combines the music of Chico Buarque with Blind Theater to once again innovate as a form of theatrical expression. The play, with text and direction by Paulo Palado, features a soundtrack performed live by the band Social Samba Fino, showcasing a selection of songs by one of Brazil’s greatest composers of all time.

The music performed throughout the show weaves the narrative, which takes place entirely in the dark. Voices, sounds, smells, and tactile sensations become essential elements for understanding the plot, immersing the audience in the world of visually impaired individuals and highlighting that understanding our surroundings goes far beyond what the eyes can see.

The play tells the story of four young people fighting against the military dictatorship in the 1970s. Three young men and a girl involved in guerrilla activities are actually fighting for much more than just the end of the dictatorship. As they navigate military challenges, Paulo, Lucas, and Cesar vie for Natasha’s affection. The development of relationships among these four young people, as they learn to cope with their country’s situation, drives the entire plot.

SOCIAL SAMBA FINO

Formed by seven musicians, the band Social Samba Fino, while having a fixed lineup, is always open to welcoming musicians from various musical styles such as choro, bossa nova, rock, baião, frevo, jazz, among others, to enhance and enrich their samba interpretation.

Highlighting the natural elegance and sophistication that samba carries in its melodies, lyrics, rhythm, and cultural significance from its inception to the present day, Social Samba Fino, with their new project Samba de Vagabundo, has expanded their musical boundaries, embracing diverse influences and giving their music an urban and universal tone. Currently facing a new challenge of performing in the dark, the band plays live in the Blind Theater format, providing the soundtrack for the show Acorda, Amor!
